It is a way of life; once you join you will never be the same.
By volunteering I have the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life and give back to the community.
When I graduated JMU, I moved back to Fredericksburg and decided that I needed to volunteer for the community. A family friend of ours was a member of CVFR and he set me up on a “ride-a-long” and I was hooked and immediately enrolled in an EMT-B course.
The most enjoyable moments are those when you put a smile on a patient’s face because you have just made their day a little brighter by showing up just to lend a helping hand.
I enjoy volunteering because of the friendships that I’ve made with my fellow volunteers and knowing that I always have a “house” to go to.
